What is Health Inequity at the Individual Level?

Health inequity at the individual level refers to the differences in health outcomes that "affect groups of people who have systematically experienced greater obstacles to health based on their racial or ethnic group; religion; socioeconomic status; gender; age; mental health; cognitive, sensory, or physical disability; sexual orientation or gender identity; geographic location..." (Healthy People 2030).

I come from a family of 5 children. It comes to be a lot on my mental health because it is always so loud and I am never able to have personal space."

"Every year my family and I celebrate Lunar New Year. Being able to find a community where we are able to celebrate our cultural identity has allowed me to become more confident in my culture and myself."

"To me, health equity means making sure all students have the same things, like textbooks, notebooks, and pens for their homework. Education is a privilege, and since my parents never had the chance to go to college, I’m a first-generation student. But I often struggle in school because I can’t access some of the textbooks that are super expensive. This makes it hard for me to learn and creates barriers in my education. I took a photo of these items to show how important educational resources are for having a successful career, feeling stable, and reducing stress.
